Explosions rocked a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, Wednesday evening as firefighters were battling a fire, causing multiple injuries, authorities said.

Rescue crews are searching for survivors in a small Texas town after a huge fire and explosion at a fertilizer plant near Waco killed at least five people and wounded more than 150 others.

A missing volunteer firefighter who was battling the fire in West, Tex., when the plant exploded about 8 p.m. Wednesday has been found wounded in a hospital. The blast leveled nearby homes, damaged a middle school and nursing home and prompted emergency workers to set up a triage center on a football field, officials said. – NY Times
