NBC Cameraman Ashoka Mukpo test ‘Ebola free’, and discharged from hospital

Currently in West Africa deaths have topped 4500+, and rising, however there is hope, as Nigeria, and Senegal have been declared Ebola free.


Ashoka Mukpo, age 33, was at Nebraska Medical Center being treated for Ebola that he caught while working in West Africa as a freelance cameraman. He says that he has no regrets about going to Liberia, and glad that he could help raise the alarm about Ebola. Ashoka Mukpo has now been released from the hospital after testing Ebola free. It is yet to be determined if he will return to Liberia to continue his work.

“After enduring weeks where it was unclear whether I would survive, I’m walking out of the hospital on my own power, free from Ebola,” Mukpo wrote in a statement read at a news conference at the hospital today.

He took to social media throughout his treatment, last night tweeting tweeting that he tested negative for Ebola three times over three days.”
